How to Care for Your Eyes by Stopping the Dryness

0

After spending a couple of hours in front of a computer or television, your eyes may feel dry and irritated. In some cases, a burning sensation is also apparent. One of the reasons behind this is that you tend to blink less while staring at a television or computer screen. A person needs to blink at least once every five seconds in order to keep his or her eyes moisturized. But when in front of a PC, many tend to blink only once in every minute.

Over-the-counter eye drops may be effective in getting the red out of your eyes. However, they may not be the right medication or treatment for dry eyes because eye drops only constrict the vessels in your eyes but do nothing to hydrate your eyes. It is important to know that dry eyes can lead to blindness.

Chopping a big bag of onion can really make you cry. But that may not be a good idea to prevent dryness. Moreover, peeling onions can also cause pain and irritation. To avert the dryness of your eyes, you may want to follow the tips below.

Moisturize With Artificial Tears

It is utterly important that you use the right type of eye drops for your problem. One that is perfect for dry eyes is called artificial tears. Although it is called artificial tears, it does not contain preservatives and other synthetic ingredients. Be sure to choose a product that only contains natural-based ingredients sans preservatives. For people who are wearing contact lenses, you may need to remove them before putting artificial tears on your eyes.

Don’t Be Shy To Bat An Eyelid

As mentioned earlier, you need to blink every once in a while to make sure your eyes are properly moisturized. If you are in front of a computer screen or television, take a conscious effort to bat your eyelids. Go ahead and blink as much as you want to keep your pearly orbs from drying out after staring hard on a colored LCD screen.

Try Hydrotherapy To Beat Dryness

Majority of individuals suffering from dry eyes have blocked oil glands in their eyelids. Thus, an effective way of preventing dry eyes is by making sure that your eyelids are clean. By cleaning your eyelids at least twice a day, you will help avert your tear woes. You can clean your eyelids with a washcloth soaked in very warm water. But before you rub washcloth on, place it first over your eyelids for a few minutes. Then, while keeping your eyes closed, gently rub your eyelashes and lids with the cloth.

Load Up On Vitamins B6 And C

You need gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which is a form of fatty acid that induces production of tears, if you want to keep your eyes from drying. Taking a supplement of evening primrose oil, which is rich in GLA, can do the trick. However, you can also get a dose of GLA from Vitamins B6 and C.

Have A Banana Everyday

If there is one fruit that is full of potassium and good for the eyes, it is the lowly banana. By eating at least one banana a day, you are providing your body with enough potassium to help ease the symptoms of your eye condition.

For your other eye problems, such as dark circles and eye bags, you can rely on natural-based products. One eye cream that is effective in banishing puffy eyes, fine lines, wrinkles and even skin discoloration under your eyes is Eyelastin.
